Michiko Iki - Artist Statement
The creation of this photographic work began with the question, "Can I express the unseen world of plants through photography?" Influenced by Rachel Carson's "The Sense of Wonder," I aimed to capture, through my lens, the astonishment and mystery inherent in every fleeting moment of nature that we often overlook. As I continued to photograph, observing the cells of plants, seeds, and flowers, I discovered an unfolding, unknown universe. The world depicted by plants, invisible to the naked eye, holds infinite possibilities and surprises. I hope that through the visual experience of this work, it will serve as an opportunity to feel the mystery of nature that, though unseen, undeniably exists.
